Anyone whose total tax liability after TDS exceeds โน10,000 in a financial year must pay advance tax. This includes salaried employees with other income (freelance, rent, capital gains), business owners, freelancers, and senior citizens (unless they have no business income).
15% by June 15, 2025 ยท 45% by September 15, 2025 ยท 75% by December 15, 2025 ยท 100% by March 15, 2026. These are cumulative percentages of total estimated tax liability.

Yes. Senior citizens (age 60+) who do not have income from business or profession are exempt from paying advance tax. They can pay all taxes as self-assessment tax at the time of filing ITR.
